Presence is pleased to announce the addition of Will Byrne to its leadership team, as Director of Strategy.
Will is an impact entrepreneur and product executive. He’s been honored as a Forbes 30 Under 30 entrepreneur, an Ashoka Fellow, World Economic Forum Global Shaper, a White House Champion of Change and a Stanford d.school Fellow.
Before joining Presence, Will was founding CEO of Groundswell, a social enterprise that pools communities’ spending power to bring clean energy within reach for working families. Groundswell operates across 5 US cities, has completed $20M in clean energy projects, and has saved millions of dollars in energy costs for families and small businesses. Will coined the term “civic consumption” to describe Groundswell’s model, in which citizens combine economic power to elevate their voice and meet their needs. It has since been replicated by organizations across a range of sectors.
As a Fellow and lecturer at Stanford’s d.school, Will launched Threshold, a web-based platform that lets consumers win innovation they want from business they buy from, by voting with their dollars. Earlier in his career, Will worked as a field operative on the first Obama campaign and as a journalist at Der Spiegel in Berlin, Germany.
He advises a range of early-stage organizations, is a contributor to Forbes and Fast Company, and is a sought-after speaker on civic consumption, millennials in the marketplace, and crowd-based innovation.
“One of the most exciting things about Presence to me is its focus on making positive impact, applying cutting-edge technology, design thinking, and product strategy to amplify the work of mission-driven organizations,” Will said.
At Presence, Will heads the strategy practice, which supports field-leading businesses and impact organizations on innovation and digital product strategy to transform results.
“We are thrilled to welcome Will to our leadership team,” said Presence CEO Jason Monberg. “His combination of entrepreneurship, product, and design experience will be an enormous asset, and we look forward to nurturing his passion for innovation toward impact.”
